Erie for a weekend
Back in Erie for the weekend to see my sister, JR and parents. Well, that and to visit the cafe of course. Thank you to the women of Larson Texts for lunch and to Kate and Jack for a wonderful dinner.

It has been awhile since I have posted something real, so I figure I should attempt something insightful or at the very least that appears to have taken 15 minutes of thought.
Things are finally going great again. Last weekend at the cafe was awesome, a very pregnant sister is coming up soon to say hello, the quarter is almost done at RIT, classes are going well, and I have never been so happy to realize the truth about something in my life.
I didn’t realize just how much I missed the cafe till I walked in Friday afternoon. To all the girls in the cafe at the time, thank you so much for your interesting way of saying hello. I can easily say it made my day.
The wedding on Saturday was incredibly fun. Congratulations Matt and Becky and I hope you have a great time on your Sandals resort honeymoon. I’ve been told to stay away from the office until you get back in case Lou gets the idea to recruit me for some extra help.
To the women of LLI and LTI I’m looking forward to lunch with you guys if you are still available. Mmmmm… Chinese.
Casey stopped by tonight for some Java help. Unfortunately she fixed her own code problems before coming over and I was really looking forward to some Java goodness. On the upside for all my coding help in the past she brought me a gift that goes straight to my weakest point… Baileys. Thank you so much.
Ok, I think that is enough rambling for one night. Time for some sleep followed by a day of XML fun.
I miss Erie, but the odd thing is I’m incredibly torn. I would give anything to go back, to be with all the friends I made at Meridian, to be able to hang out at the cafe after work, to be back with Jo, but at the same time part of me feels at home here.
I fought for 4 hours last night in the lab trying to debug a CPLD reset line problem that had me pulling my hair out. I had a bug where the reset line when tied high or low would always cause the output to stay in reset. It was one of those problems where the professor sat down with me for half an hour and at the end he walked away shaking his head. My code was good and the hardware simulated fine, but there was still a quirk. Around midnight last night I finally figured out the problem, kicked the thing across the room and declared victory. It wasn’t until I was walking across campus that I realized how much I really missed this stuff.
As many times as I get sick of RIT it still feels like home. It’s good to be home.
