Ron Jon
When driving southbound on I-95 in Florida you will immediately begin to notice signs ever 5 miles or so for a place called Ron Jon. The signs start somewhere around 161 miles from their location, so it should be fairly obvious that you see one or two of these before you pass Cocoa Beach. If nothing else the idea of a 24 hour surf and skateboard shop that puts this much money into advertising is definitely an interesting concept, especially for those of us that were knee deep in snow only a few months ago.
I only bring this up, because this morning my father and I drove down to Cocoa Beach in an attempt to watch the shuttle launch. It was a fun drive and a great idea, but upon arriving in the area we where informed they had just scrubbed the launch for the day. This is completely understandable due to their problems, but makes a two and a half hour drive each way seem a little wasted. This would be where Ron Jon comes in. Since we were already in the area, had some time to kill and has recently seen one of their signs informing us we were only 2 miles away now it seemed like a good idea to stop in for a visit. “Wow” is the only thing to do this place justice. Two stories of surfing and skateboarding goodness. If you are in the area just follow the breadcrumbs trail of signs, because it is definitely worth seeing at least once.
